I bought this one on the way home from school in 1961, little knowing I would come across it today in tributes to Joe Kubert, a great comic book artist. The one below is also Kubert’s, from 1966, with a rather over-long description that makes me chuckle. RIP, Joe Kubert.

Let’s see if I have this straight:
You bought a comic at age 14, you recall it was on a weekday afternoon, you saved it more than half a century (if I assume correctly) . . .
. . . little knowing that you’d not only come across it in tributes, but also have a way to share the image and personal touchstone widely with simple keystrokes.
As someone who bought lots of dime comics in the 1950s and early ’60s, I bow in astonishment and admiration.
