Zenith

This morning I am coveting a Zenith Stratosphere 1000Z, with a large black 9″ airplane dial set in a bronze dial bezel. The dial had a shadowgraph tuning meter made of glass with each radio band etched in its own layer with individually lighted tuning ranges – AM broadcast stations, foreign, police, amateur, aviation and ships at sea. It reminds me of the radio in my grandfather’s living room that glowed yellow, and listed London and Paris on the dial. The thought that you could reach London and Paris from Salamanca, N.Y., caused me to marvel.

See more of this magnificent radio here.
