Orphans

On this postcard, postmarked 1913, Aunt Lucy writes, “Thank you ever so much for your Christmas gifts — to me they are nice. Hattie’s brother’s wife is dead, died at Biny (?) Asylum. Tim Doane is buried tomorrow. Today has been dark and unpleasant.”

  1. I wanted to send you these photos of our State School which was an orphanage here in my town of Owatonna. I have included a link for your information, and a current photo. The school is now a museum, art center, theatre, public access pool and gymnasium, and home to some small non-profit agencies, as well as city recreation administration and city council chambers. It is well used! http://www.mnpreservation.org/2011/03/02/owatonna-landmark-listed-on-nrhp/
